Our team at Encore Tours has been growing. Meet Glendon – one of our new Program Managers! Where are you from? Glendon: Mobile, Alabama What were you doing before you started at Encore? Glendon: I was a history teacher in Brighton, England, teaching ages 11-18. What is your musical background? Glendon: I started playing trombone at 11 years old, but I really got interested when I joined the marching band in high school. We had over 200 musicians in the band…we really put out a nice sound! I was a Drum Major my junior and senior year. I continued playing in my university symphonic band and pep band. When I moved to the UK, I got to play in orchestras, which was a completely new experience for me! Have you ever been on a performance tour before? Where did you perform? Glendon: Yes! I performed in the London Lord Mayor’s New Year’s Day Parade with my high school marching band. It was odd because we tried to bring Mardis Gras to London. Our flag corps threw plastic beads at a very stunned London audience! What is your top bit of travel advice? Glendon: Try to learn a bit of the local language! Even though English is becoming an international language, you can connect SO much better with local people if you at least try to speak their language. What are you passionate about? Glendon: History, languages, music, and of course, travel! What are you most looking forward to working on the Encore team? Glendon: So far I’ve been working with a few overseas colleagues and it’s been really interesting working with people from other parts of the world. I am especially looking forward to working with music directors and teachers who will be getting ready to take their ensemble on a performance tour. I love all of the ins and outs of getting a group of musicians overseas representing the United States in front of foreign audiences! Welcome to the team, Glendon!
