The third most populous city in Japan, Osaka has traditionally been considered Japan’s economic hub. Not only is it home to the Osaka Exchange, but also the headquarters for major electronics corporations including Panasonic and Sharp. Osaka is a mesmerizing city that offers some of the best food, culture, and nightlife in Japan. It combines retro charm with modern flair, making it a must-see destination for your group.

Shizuoka

Located less than two hours from Tokyo — and accessible through a beautiful coastal train route — Shizuoka is a scenic and relaxing destination for your ensemble. In addition to the wonderful local venues, there are many resorts and hot springs in the region with volcanic foothills that extend out to the Izu Peninsula. Shizuoka produces roughly half of all green tea consumed in Japan, so don’t forget to stop for a nice, hot beverage!

Suntory Hall

Tokyo

The Suntory Hall is a performance venue in Tokyo, Japan’s Akasaka neighborhood. It is a part of the Ark Hills complex and includes a small hall for chamber music in addition to the larger main concert hall. The main hall widely regarded as having some of the best acoustics in the world, with Herbert von Karajan having called it “a jewel box of sound”. This is a can’t-miss destination for any ensemble planning a performance tour to Japan!

Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum

The Kawaguchiko Music Forest is a small theme park and museum. Its main hall displays antique music boxes, mechanical organs and other automatic musical instruments — mostly from European countries. The main building also houses a fabulous concert hall where musicians from around the world perform. Enjoy performing in this scenic location with beautiful views of Mount Fuji, walking paths through the gardens and an amazing winding canal.

Hakkeijima Sea Paradise

Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is an amusement park consisting of an aquarium, shopping mall, hotel, marina and amusement rides. Opened in 1993, this destination features wonderful options for outdoor concerts — not to mention plenty of fun opportunities for youth ensembles following their performance.

Soai University is a private university in the city of Osaka, Japan. It was established in 1888, initially as a women’s university. On campus you will find a wonderful concert hall that predominantly features classical performances, although exceptions can be made for qualifying groups.
