Willkommen in Deutschland! After meeting your Encore Tour Manager in Frankfurt, you’ll head to the famed university town of Heidelberg. Afternoon sightseeing includes entrance to the magnificent Heidelberg Castle, a notable example of Renaissance architecture that towers hundreds of feet above the Neckar River.
This morning you’ll depart for Rothenburg, a quintessentially German city that’s famous for its well-preserved, centuries-old buildings. Dotted with fountains, towers and turrets, the city is made for sightseeing by foot. Your walking tour includes entrance to St. Jakob's Church, with its intricate carvings and stained-glass windows. In the afternoon, prepare for your first concert followed by a group dinner!
Begin today with a drive to Munich, stopping en route for a somber visit the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. This former prison camp actually was not one of the “death camps” but is still a vivid reminder of Nazi atrocities during World War II. Participate in a discussion about the rise of the Nazi Party and learn why every Munich school child must also visit this poignant site. In Munich, check into your hotel, have dinner followed by an evening visit to the Olympic Park.
Explore Bavaria's capital city with a guided sightseeing tour of highlights such as the Marienplatz and its famed Glockenspiel, the Viktualienmarkt food-and-flower market and the surfers on the Isar River. In the afternoon, transfer to your second concert performance! Tonight, enjoy the city's famous Rostbratwurst, small grilled bratwurst sausages with sauerkraut!
Journey to the opulent Herrenchiemsee Palace, the largest of Ludwig II’s royal residences. Ride a boat across the lake to the island-perched palace, visiting its apartments, Hall of Mirrors and gardens. Then continue on to the musical city of Salzburg in the afternoon!
Located in the Salzach River Valley, Salzburg is one of the most picturesque of all European cities - indeed, it is all of Europe in concentrated form with a castle, cathedral, squares, gardens, spires and rivers. During the Holy Empire, it was called the northern Rome, due to the importance of the Prince Archbishops and the Baroque. The city's reputation is based on a living musical tradition being the city of Mozart. Its beauty and vibrant musical life have made it one of Europe's foremost cultural cities. Your morning sightseeing tour shows you the manicured gardens in front of the Mirabell Palace, the Sound of Music Churchyard and the stunning Baroque Dom Cathedral. Next visit Mozart’s Birthplace Museum on the crowded shopping street, the Getreidegasse. This afternoon, rehearse for tonight’s final concert performance!
